In a decisive agenda for bilateral food trade, the Brazil-China Business and Trade Promotion Chamber (CPNCBC) accompanied, in December 2024, the official delegation of the Shandong Commercial Group on a visit to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) in Brasília.

The Chinese delegation, led by the holding’s Chairman, Mr. Wang Xuchao, was received by MAPA’s Vice-Minister, Mr. Irajá Lacerda. The meeting relied on direct articulation by the Chamber’s presidency, represented by Mr. Julio Kawano (Brazil) and Mr. Hao Xiaodong (China), consolidating the entity as the main technical interlocutor between the Brazilian productive sectors and the Chinese consumer market.

Economic Diplomacy in the Field

The meeting focused centrally on aligning guidelines regarding food security, a priority theme for China. During the negotiations, essential topics for maintaining and expanding Brazilian exports were addressed, such as the import of grains and proteins, the implementation of traceability systems, and the commitment to sustainability in supply chains.

The presence of Shandong Commercial Group—one of China’s largest commercial holdings—at the Brazilian ministry signals a direct interest in strengthening ties without intermediaries, ensuring quality supply for the Asian market.

“The partnership with Shandong Commercial Group extends the reach of Brazilian agriculture and reinforces China’s confidence in the quality and sustainability of our products,” highlighted President Julio Kawano regarding the relevance of the visit.

Global Leadership in Food Production

The agenda in Brasília symbolized the strengthening of economic diplomacy in agribusiness. By facilitating dialogue between major Chinese state-owned buyers and Brazilian regulators, CPNCBC reaffirms Brazil’s role as a strategic and reliable partner in global food production. The meeting served to pave the way for new trade agreements based on sanitary transparency and logistical efficiency between the two nations.
