The conclusion of the Brazil-China Business and Trade Promotion Chamber (CPNCBC) activity cycle for 2023 was marked by a decisive step in the entity’s nationwide expansion strategy. On December 8, 2023, the Chamber’s leadership paid an institutional visit to its branch in Joinville, in the state of Santa Catarina.

The choice of the city was not random. Joinville is widely recognized for its robust industrial environment and innovative profile—characteristics that make it a priority territory for attracting foreign capital and developing joint technologies. The visit’s central objective was to consolidate the Chamber’s national structure, ensuring that opportunities for Sino-Brazilian cooperation also reach regional production hubs, rather than remaining restricted solely to political and financial capitals.

Santa Catarina as a Natural Partner for China

During the working meetings, the CPNCBC board and local representatives debated how the Santa Catarina ecosystem can benefit directly from closer ties with China. The agenda focused on regional integration and strengthening ties with the local productive sector, aiming to pave the way for future business exchange programs.

The Chamber’s President, Julio Kawano, emphasized that the state’s manufacturing vocation creates immediate synergy with the needs and offerings of the Chinese market:

“Santa Catarina’s industrial strength and local innovation potential make the state a natural partner for cooperation with China. This CPNCBC presence in the South represents an institutional milestone.”

Decentralization and Continuous Dialogue

The physical presence in Joinville materializes CPNCBC’s commitment to the decentralization of its activities. By establishing an active base in the South, the Chamber facilitates continuous dialogue between government, companies, and civil society in the region, creating a direct channel for discussing investments and technological partnerships.

This strategy of regional reach (capillarity) aims to strengthen the business network across the national territory, ensuring that economic diplomacy generates practical results for industries, startups, and local public managers. The visit consolidated Santa Catarina’s position on the strategic map of Brazil-China cooperation, opening promising prospects for regional economic development in the coming years.
