On July 22, 2025, the Brazil-China Business and Trade Promotion Chamber (CPNCBC) participated in an important institutional meeting in Florianópolis.
The meeting involved SPAF – Secretariat of Ports, Airports, and Railways of Santa Catarina, represented by Secretary Mr. Beto Martins, and the high leadership of PowerChina International, including Vice-President Mr. Li Hai and CEO Mr. Tharcísio Calderaro.
The agenda aimed centrally to discuss logistical and energy integration between Brazil and China, with a specific focus on the infrastructure demands of the state of Santa Catarina.
The meeting explored opportunities for modernizing the port and railway sectors, aligning large-scale engineering projects with guidelines for sustainability and operational efficiency.
Synergy in Infrastructure and Sustainability
During the negotiations, CPNCBC reinforced its commitment to monitoring the development of these structural projects. The dialogue addressed how PowerChina’s technology can contribute to solutions for sustainable transport and clean energy—areas where the company possesses global expertise.
For the Chamber, the connection between state public management and international corporations is vital to unlock investments. CPNCBC President Julio Kawano highlighted the strategic importance of this union:
“The synergy between Santa Catarina and China is a concrete example of how cooperation and technology can generate expressive economic and environmental results.”
Santa Catarina’s Leadership
The meeting strengthened Santa Catarina’s leading role (protagonism) in bilateral relations, demonstrating the state’s capacity to attract heavy-weight partners for its infrastructure works. The meeting reaffirmed CPNCBC’s role as a strategic agent of institutional and business interconnection, facilitating the technical dialogue that precedes major economic partnerships.
