On October 6, 2025, the Brazil-China Business and Trade Promotion Chamber (CPNCBC) participated in a high-level meeting at the Cabinet of the Secretariat of Climate Change of the Municipality of São Paulo.
The meeting gathered a broad coalition of representatives from the São Paulo public sector and leading Chinese environmental technology companies, aiming to accelerate the implementation of sustainable urban solutions.
The table was composed of central authorities in the capital’s environmental management: the Secretary of Climate Change, Mr. José Renato Nalini, and the Secretary of Green and the Environment, Mr. Rodrigo Kenji de Souza Ashiuchi.
The international delegation included executives from SEPCO1, led by Director Mr. Ma Donglei, as well as representatives from SP Regula and the concessionaire EcoUrbis, key players in the city’s waste management.
Representing the institutional articulation were CPNCBC President, Mr. Julio Kawano, and Vice-President, Mr. Edison Fujiura.
Innovation in Green Engineering and Waste
The dialogue focused on the urban energy transition and strengthening Sino-Brazilian partnerships in green engineering. During the meeting, SEPCO1 presented its technologies focused on hybrid power plants, energy efficiency, and, principally, Waste-to-Energy (WtE) projects—an urgent agenda for major metropolises like São Paulo.
The presence of SP Regula and EcoUrbis allowed discussions to move beyond theory and address real challenges of urban operation, seeking to integrate Chinese innovation into the cleaning and regulatory systems already existing in the capital.
” The Chinese experience in sustainable energy is an example of how technology and future vision can walk together. The Chamber is committed to bringing this knowledge to Brazil,” highlighted President Julio Kawano.
Commitment to the Urban Future
The meeting reinforced the joint commitment to sustainable development and international cooperation. By connecting regulators, public managers, and holders of cutting-edge technology, CPNCBC acts to enable projects that transform São Paulo’s environmental infrastructure, promoting a cleaner, more efficient city aligned with global goals to combat climate change.
