In May 2024, the Brazil-China Business and Trade Promotion Chamber (CPNCBC) took a significant step towards strengthening national infrastructure by holding an institutional meeting in Curitiba with the leadership of Portos do Paraná.

The meeting, led by Chamber President Julio Kawano and the port authority’s Secretary-General, Mr. Felipe Gama, focused centrally on opportunities for bilateral cooperation in port logistics and foreign trade.

The dialogue recognized the vital role of Paraná’s ports (Paranaguá and Antonina) as fundamental links in the flow of commodities and Brazilian industrialized goods to the world. Given the growing volume of trade with Asia, the meeting addressed the urgent need to integrate Chinese technology into national processes, aiming for qualitative leaps in port management, automation, and operational sustainability.

Modernization and Logistics Intelligence

The meeting’s technical agenda explored concrete possibilities for partnerships with Chinese companies that are global references in maritime infrastructure. The goal is to bring smart cargo handling systems and engineering solutions to Brazil that enhance the efficiency and connectivity of the national logistics system, reducing bottlenecks and operational costs.

For CPNCBC, modernization is not just a matter of physical construction, but of applied intelligence. China, with its “Smart Ports,” offers an efficiency model that can be adapted to the Brazilian reality through cooperation agreements facilitated by the Chamber.

“The connection between Brazilian ports and Chinese logistics centers is strategic for the sustainable growth of bilateral trade. Integrating these ends is essential for Brazil’s competitiveness.” — Julio Kawano, President of CPNCBC.

Commitment to Competitiveness

This meeting reaffirms CPNCBC’s commitment to promoting integrated logistics development. By acting as an interlocutor between Brazilian public management and Chinese technological innovation, the Chamber works to strengthen the country’s infrastructure, ensuring that Brazil maintains its relevance and competitiveness in the complex scenario of global trade.
